Writer

Elma Correa is a writer from Mexicali. She also coordinates the international writers’ gathering Tiempo de Literatura UABC in Baja California, and manages @habitaciones_propias, a virtual community where women from around the world share the spaces in which they create. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Hispanic American Language and Literature, a Master’s degree in Sociocultural Studies, and a PhD in Society, Space, and Power. Her work has been published in national and international journals and included in various anthologies. She compiled Vacunas contra la poesía (SCBC, 2020); the Mexican section of Frontera Norte. Antología de narrativa chilena y mexicana (Cinosargo, 2020); Ni una sola palabra (UANL, 2021); and Mexicanas 2 (Fondo Blanco, 2022). She is the author of Que parezca un accidente (Nitro/Press, 2018) and Mentiras que no te conté (UDG, 2021), for which she received the XX Juan José Arreola National Short Story Prize, as well as Llorar de fiesta (BUAP, 2022), Lo simple (INBAL, 2023), winner of the Bellas Artes Short Story Prize San Luis Potosí Amparo Dávila, and La novia del león (Nitro/Press, 2024). Since 2024, she has been part of the International Literary Agency Gaeb & Eggers.
